With Allah’s blessings and support of our community, a long-time dream has become a reality. In 2001 a few dedicated Muslims organized Salat al-Juma’h at the Lenexa Community Center, registered the Shawnee Mission Islamic Education Center (SMIEC), Inc. in 2010, and received IRS 501c3 status in 2011. We bought a building in 2019 that is now home to the newest masjid in our area.
Hadith on Building Mosque
Islamic ayat with translation
“The mosques of Allah shall be maintained only by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day; perform As-Salaah (Iqaamat-as-Salaah), and give Zakah and fear none but Allah. It is they who are on true guidance”
[al-Tawbah 9:18]
Ibn Majaah (738) narrated from Jaabir ibn ‘Abd-Allah that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever builds a mosque for the sake of Allah, like a sparrow’s nest or even smaller, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani.
Uthman ibn Affan reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house like it in Paradise.”
