Application For Scholarship

Scholarship Name: Hasan-Gilani Scholarship

Award: Two Scholarships: $1,000 (for college students) and $500 (for high school seniors)

Eligibility: Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Meritorious applicants with demonstrated financial need for continuing their post-secondary education.
Resident of Kansas City metro area or surrounding communities who have attended, and graduated from a high school in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
Enrolled in, or accepted for full-time admission in a 2- or 4-year degree, graduate, or professional degree program at any college/university in Kansas or Missouri.
- For high school seniors: Acceptance in a degree program for the 2022-23 academic year at a community college, 4-year college, or university. Proof of admission must be submitted along with the application.
- For applicants already pursuing a college degree program: copy of last semester transcript, and proof of fall 2022 enrollment.
Must provide evidence of financial need (a document stating basis of financial need; or copy of 2021 tax return, if employed).
Actively involved in service to the Muslim community. Arrange for a letter from the supervisor or head of the organization to be emailed to the Scholarship Committee at schoalrship@smiec.org.
Submit a biosketch, not exceeding 300 words, describing applicant’s background, work and service history, financial need, educational, civic, religious accomplishments; and future educational and career goals.
Write and submit an essay titled “Most Challenging Issue Facing Muslim Youths”, not exceeding 500 words.
Provide name and contact information of two referees who are not related to the applicant.
Completed Cover Sheet must accompany the application.
Applications will be evaluated by a committee of judges who will rank all applicants. Final selection will be made by the SMIEC Scholarship Committee who will select top two applicants for the award.
